What's playing in my room these days? Well since the purchase of my computer
and the installation of WinAmp, there'll be more that just the MIDI video
game music adaptations that have plagued my parents' ears for years during
high school.
Haddaway: "What is Love" - the Roxbury guys knew how to party!
But a party ain't a party without Queen Pen
Still, the Vengaboys like to party! "Up and Down!"
Alright, I've compiled some songs for the sole purpose of par-tay... or rather, Purple Par-tay (or something)!!! This "compilation" includes the usual party fare such as Rob Base, No Mercy, Everything, TLC, Salt-N-Pepa, Sysqo, and Luke, as well as our favorite early 90s stars like Milli Vanilla, Hammer, and Snow.
Kokoro (Japanese: spirit, soul)
Various songs from the Rurouni Kenshin soundtrack:
Rurouni Kenshin is a anime series that I have never seen before in
my life. However, I find the soundtrack awesome. For the complete reasoning
behind my procurement of these songs, please read my 29-page confession
here.
Mahou Tsukai Tai
This is an anime about five teenage witches I saw during my first MIT anime club showing. It was almost too cute for me, but then I realized that there's alot about life to be learned from it. So of course, I downloaded the soundtrack. It's in Japanese, so of course, I can't understand the lyrics... yet.
Sonic Adventure Beats (E-102, Dance Mix, etc.)
Hey, not exactly MIDI
Street Fighter Instrumentals... reliving the "glory days"
Again, not the same, cuz it isn't MIDI!!!
Themes from Street Fighter Alpha 2 (Akuma, Guy, M.Bison): OK, busted.
DJ Q-bert, "Street Fighter/Mortal Kombat Street Mix:" Alright already.
Songs from Street Fighter and Fatal Fury anime series: Hey, be quiet!!!
Dead or Alive 2: Now there's a refreshing change of pace
Rayza, "Shinobi": A house mix. This can't be music from a video game. If
it was, I'd know which one!!
New stuff (as of the summer of 2001):
I can't believe it's been a year since I've updated this page... I've seen more anime and stolen its music!!!
Outlaw Star is the story of space pirates-for-hire who find a powerful spaceship with its own AI, while assisted by a mysterious and powerful little girl. It's really cool...
More video game stuff! Surprise! RPG madness with Phantasy Star Online, Shining Force, and Grandia...
Street Fighter again??? Well, OK, it sounds different... It's urban beats (SF3: Third Strike), jazz (Marvel vs. Capcom 2), and weird techno (Capcom vs. SNK)...
Oh wait a minute... is that a real song?!?! It can't be! Yep, it's Namie Amuro's "Let's Do The Motion." Hey, it's the only J-pop artist I've heard of, and that'll probably be true until Sawaka makes it big ;)
New stuff (as of the winter of 2002):
Does the madness ever end? Ever since Sonic's sung his Dreamcast swan song :(, I've been listening to it quite frequently! (Ok, I know this is cryptic...)
Street Fighter hijinks continue, this time with offerings from Capcom vs. SNK 2 and Alpha 3...
Oh wait a minute... there are *real* music additions this time!!! I've been impressed by offerings from the Roots, the Orb, more Massive Attack, and several of the Wu-Tang solo recordings. And is that *another* J-pop artist in there? It's Utada Hikaru!
And finally... I've chosen to listen to Daft Punk just "One More Time!" But I have to be "Aerodynamic" in doing so... (OK I'll stop now.)
Miscellaneous
SoulCalibur themes!
Resident Evil mansion themes!
I also get funky with Space Channel 5!
Inexplicable techno themes, anyone? I've got some from ThunderCats, Star Wars, Sesame Street, and even Braveheart!!! Not to mention various silly classical music remixes...
Oh, I can never forget the Simpsons!!! Rock me, Dr. Zaius!
